Blog Writing Tips
Please keep these in mind as you compose your blog post:
1. Pick a topic that matters to you - your emotion will pull your readers in and elevate the level of your writing.
2. Before you start writing, decide what you want to say. After you have a topic, zero in on your most important ideas. Finally, play around with the order in which you could present them to find what works best.
3. Your two strongest sentences should be first, drawing the reader in and making her want to read more, and your last, leaving the reader with a positive impression and something to think about.
4. Your style should be conversational, not formal. Blogs are considered to be back-and-forth conversations.
5. BUT this doesn't mean you should not use proper grammar and spelling cuz that just makes you look dumbb. According to "Nine Grammar Rules Every Blogger Needs to Know", some of the most frequent mistakes are: mixing up who and whom; not using however correctly (at the beginning of a sentence followed by a comma: mistaking lie, lay, lain, laid, and lying; making mistakes with commas; and using fragments. ALWAYS proofread!
6. Support your points. Don't just throw out a theory or idea - back it up with specific examples, analogies, or quotes, If you are putting for an argument, take time to look at the other side...if only to break it down.
7. Keep it relatively short - a paragraph or two will generally suffice. People scanning the internet are less likely to read lengthy posts, and then they will miss out on your brilliance. We can't have that.
